#41

I turned forty-one this week. To celebrate, we went to see U2 at The Sphere in Las Vegas. Phish and Dead and Co. are headed there soon. The game has changed with The Sphere. You just have to go and see for yourself.

In 1999, I had my second mystical moment (that I can recall). I was driving to high school and listening to #41 by Dave Matthews Band. Two things stand out from that moment. At first, I simultaneously saw and understood that everything was One. Secondly, that recognition of oneness put a smile/smirk on my face. Truly, it was the first time I remember being in on the Cosmic Joke.

So #41 holds profound meaning for me. The song serves as a lifelong reminder of what it feels and sounds like to be immersed in the Flow of the One Life that is constantly unfolding for, with, and around us.

As the clock struck 12:00 am CST on January 28th, I turned 41, and along with 20,000 friends, we sang One and I Still Haven’t Found What I’m looking For.

The significance of that moment with those lyrics wasn’t lost on me, and the smile from 1999 formed again.
