Everything Is a Garden

Weekend Musings from Ashton

Everything is a garden.

Relationships.

Business.

Bodies.

Spirituality.

Friendship.

Art.

Attention.

The more intentional we become with the gardens of our lives, the healthier things tend to grow.

Of course, we are not responsible for the sun or the rain.

We cannot force growth.

Mary, Mary, quite contrary—

how does your garden grow?

The truth is:

she doesn’t know.

None of us do.

You can explain photosynthesis all day long and still stand in awe at the mystery of a seed becoming something alive.

But if life is a garden, then the metaphor keeps unfolding:

Seeds.

Weeds.

Light.

Night.

Bugs.

Pruning.

Seasons.

Roots.

Fruit.

And if it’s true that we are all gardeners,

then we better show up to our gardens.
