The More You Know

Weekend Musings from Ashton

There’s a quote from Naval Ravikant that’s been echoing in my mind this week:

“The more you know, the less you diversify.”

At first glance, it seems counterintuitive. We’re told to spread risk, hedge bets, diversify across every area of life. But Naval points to a deeper truth—when you truly know something, when you’ve studied it, lived it, tested it—your conviction grows. And with conviction, focus follows.

Diversification is a strategy for the uncertain. Knowledge invites concentration.
The farmer who knows his land plants with confidence. The artist who knows her craft paints with abandon. The investor who knows their market doubles down.

It makes me wonder—where in my life am I still scattering energy simply because I don’t yet know enough? And what could happen if I leaned in deeper, sought clarity, and allowed knowledge to replace fear?

This weekend, maybe it’s worth asking:

  • Where am I diversifying out of doubt?

  • Where do I already know enough to lean in with focus?

Perhaps wisdom is simply the courage to trust what you know.

Here’s to a weekend of leaning in,
